Thank you for your support of occupational health and safety and the Voluntary Protection Program here in Region 1!
Region l OSHA has announced the 2022 Special Government Employee (SGE) of the Year: Mr. David Kiser, engineer and Environmental, Health & Safety Manager for Hypertherm Associates, supporting three Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star worksites located in Lebanon, West Lebanon, and Hanover, New Hampshire. The New Hampshire locations manufacture plasma cutting systems and components.
David became an OSHA SGE in 2011 and has over 20 years of experience in health and safety. David received his undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management and Product Design and Development from Keene State College in 2002 and earned his master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Science in 2013.
David has supported Region 1 OSHA and the VPP Participants Association (VPPPA) as a SGE in mentoring organizations in New England looking to pursue the VPP.
David is active with the New England Roundtable, a longstanding OSHA Alliance in Region 1 that is partnered with the Small Business Association of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire OSHA Consultation Program, WorkWise, and the New Hampshire Coalition of Occupation Safety and Health (COSH). Dave has provided presentations of Hypertherm’s ergonomics program that focuses upon reducing risk and providing employee wellness to enhance the health and wellbeing of its workforce.
Dave is also a volunteer member of the New Hampshire Upper Valley Haven’s safety committee, is a long-time volunteer and Board of Director member of the New England Chapter of the National Safety Council and has been a frequent guest speaker at the National Safety Council’s annual New Hampshire conference.
Additionally, David assisted OSHA in 2022 in teaching one of the four modules of the Special Government Employee Training Class. David also shares best practices and other information from his organization to VPP participants and OSHA as a subject matter expert in the field of robotics.
Dave is married with two young children, ages 6 and 8. His passions include skiing and fishing.
